Bring It On Broadway alum Jason Gotay will join Spider-Man, Turn Off the Dark as the alternate Spider-Man/Peter Parker at Broadway's Foxwoods Theatre. Justin Matthew Sargent, who had been performing as the alternate lead since August, officially took over the title role on September 16. According to a news release, Gotay "will play select performances...with a varied week to week performance schedule beginning at the end of October." Current alternate Matt Wilkas will continue until Gotay joins the cast.
Spider-Man, Turn Off the Dark follows the story of Peter Parker (Sargent), whose life takes a turn for the extraordinary when he’s bitten by a genetically altered spider and finds himself endowed with superpowers. Parker quickly learns that with great power comes great responsibility as he tries to juggle the demands of high school and home life, while battling the Green Goblin (Robert Cuccioli) and his band of super villains. Peter must fight to save everything he holds dear, including the beautiful girl-next-door, Mary Jane Watson (Rebecca Faulkenberry).
Gotay is best known for playing Randall in Bring It On. He also appeared off-Broadway in the rock musical F#%king Up Everything.
